Ryuji Miyamoto

Born, 1947 in Tokyo, Japan

From the archived Documenta 11 website : www.documenta12.de//archiv/d11/data/english/index.html

“In the 1980s and 1990s, Miyamoto photographed public and representative buildings, again focusing on ruins, collapsed or destroyed, but also on construction sites. Concentrating upon architectural conditions, Miyamoto’s photographs criticize neither society nor politics. Rather, they are documents of ‘no more’ or ‘not yet’, a suspended condition of space and time, a standstill among loss, renewal, and the irretrievable moment that always conceals future changes within.”
