“Amar Kanwar, an independent documentary film-maker, engages the conditions of contemporary India. His films cover topics as diverse as the history and politics of harvesting water in the desert, the physical and mental spaces carved out for men and women within the family, and the ecological interpretations of Buddhism. Other films have dealt with the opposition between globalization and tribal consciousness in the heart of rural India.”
