For years before his death, London’s October Gallery emerged as a committed advocate for Aubrey Williams’ work. This advocacy and commitment has continued in the decades following the Guyana-born artist’s death in 1990. Typical in this regard was the exhibition Aubrey Williams: Dreams and Visions, held at October Gallery 20 May  - 19 June 2004.

The exhibition’s invitation card for the Private View of Wednesday 19 May 2004, featured Untitled, 1970, gouache on paper, 137.5 x 50.5 cm. The exhibition was to be opened by Mel Gooding.

The card announced that Imruh Caesar’s film on Williams, The Mark of the Hand, was to be shown during the evening of the Private View.
