For years before his death, London’s October Gallery emerged as a committed advocate for Aubrey Williams’ work. This advocacy and commitment has continued in the decades following the Guyana-born artist’s death in 1990. Typical in this regard was the exhibition Aubrey Williams: Now and Coming Time, held at October Gallery 4 February - 3 April 2010.

The exhibition’s invitation card for the Private View of Wednesday 3 February 2010, featured Dawn & Evening Star (Olmec Maya series), 1982, oil on canvas, 132 x 208 cm. The exhibition was to be opened by Mel Gooding, who had opened another Aubrey Williams exhibition at the October Gallery several years previously. (Aubrey Williams: Dreams and Visions, 20 May - 19 June 2004)

Aubrey Williams: Now and Coming Time coincided with Aubrey Williams: Atlantic Fire, shown at Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, 15 January - 11 April 2010. The catalogue for Aubrey Williams: Atlantic Fire contained a checklist of Aubrey Williams: Now and Coming Time complete with small reproductions of the exhibition’s fourteen paintings.
