Gregory Whyte

Born in England, date unknown

Gregory Whyte had work included in Double Vision: An exhibiton of contemporary Afro-Caribbean art, held at Cartwright HallBradford, 8 November 1986 - 4 January 1987. Within the Double Vision poster/brochure, the text on Whyte included “Gregory Whyte is a young painter and print maker who studied at Trent Polytechnic, Nottingham. He was born in England. Both his partents are from Jamaica. Apart from his technical ability, his great strength is his sense of humour and wit. His relaxed amiable manner screens a perspicacity unusual in someone so young. It is this quality which imbues his work  with meaning and power. ‘My work is largely about contradictions and juxtaposition. It brings together disparate elements combining snippets of reality with a fertile imagination and a sprinkling of humour.’”
