Atta Kwami

Born, 1956 in Accra, Ghana

From the publication, In Black and White: Prints from Africa and the Diaspora, by Gill Saunders and Zoe Whitley, V&A Publishing, 2013: “Atta Kwami was born in Accra, Ghana, where his mother was a well-known artist and art educator, and his father a musician. He studied painting at the College of Art at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), followed by a period of teaching in Nigeria, and then returned to KNUST as lecturer in painting and printmaking. He now works independemtly in Ghana and Britain.”
