Frederick L Seidel

Frederick L. Seidel of New York wrote the catalogue essay for Frank Bowling’s exhibition at Acme Gallery in 1977. The exhibition was Frank Bowling | Selected Paintings 1967-77. Seidel began his essay with “Frank Bowling’s recent paintings are very beautiful, the most powerful and most refined resolution so far of old preoccupations of his. He makes his struggle smooth, pours it smooth and firm in these poured paintings, in absolute command, fifteen years of struggle now, his effort to see the light. It is effort. Bowling is quite talkative about that.”
