Charlemagne Bien-Aime

The following biographical sketch appeared in the catalogue Artists of the Western Hemisphere | Art of Haiti and Jamaica, Art Gallery, Center for Inter-American Relations, 600 Park Avenue, New York, N.Y., 10 - 27 October 1968

BIEN-AIME was virtually a one-painting painter. He first came to notice through stylized decorations on a Voodoo tower and other stylized forest and woodland scenes. ‘The Cow’ was his first (and very possibly his last) formal painting.
