From the website: “The G.R. N’Namdi Gallery proudly presents, Full of Light by Frank Bowling RA. Frank Bowling, RA, the Guyana born British trained artist, was on May 26, 2005 elected a member of England’s Royal Academy of Art. This exhibition of mixed media paintings spans over thirty years from 1975 to 2004. The show runs through December 2nd, 2006. Frank Bowling’s primary medium is light itself; combining his use of color with his technique of mixing gels and turpentine, he creates an illuminating canvas that permeates the viewers eye. Bowling owes much of his inspiration to artists such as Jackson Pollock, Helen Frankenthaler, and Morris Louis whose technique constituted pouring paint directly onto unstretched canvas. Frank Bowling became greatly interested in these “controlled accidents” and the unexpected reactions that take place between different media and pigments. Through these combined processes, a brilliance of texture and color emerges and becomes Full of Light.”
